Win a trip to Amsterdam
When Tara Met Blog is now one one of the blog sponsors of a contest for a complete trip to Amsterdam brought to you by the off-Broadway play Red Light Winter. Why Amsterdam? It's where the first half of the play takes place. To enter the free contest just plug in your details here. Good luck and let me know if you win... or need a guest to take ;) For a review of the play check out my previous post below.

You Can't Tell a Man by His Nails:
It's a bad state of things when you get hit on while at the nail salon getting a mani/pedi. No, I wasn't getting picked up by another female, but from the guy drying his nails in the dryer next to me. First gyms became meat markets now nail salons? hmm I can tell you which I'd prefer at least. I'm not saying guys can't get a manicure just don't try to flirt while doing so please.

I got hit on at once in McDonalds with my 4 year old daughter at foot! And at work someone called my number accidentally, we started talking and I accepted a date.
It sure was a WRONG NUMBER!

I just wouldn't feel right getting a mani/pedi. I don't even feel right walking into those places.

exactly, just like I use to feel uncomfortable going into the barber shop with my dad. I felt like I was invading a man's place.

Exactly!

I dated a girl that wanted me to go to those places with her. If I had been smart I would have waited in the bar down the street.

Sadly "Ty" he wasn't and his toe nails were all nasty, I felt bad for the girl who had to do them.

That blows me away that a guy would sit in a nail salon, get his nails and feet done, and hit on a girl. And what is that about anyway? I mean, I thought the only reason a girl goes to those places is to get long nails tended to, repair breaks or add new ones or whatever.

They sell clipper kits at the drugstore.

Ofcourse, you would probably look at my big callused hands and say, "yeah, I can tell you have never had a manicure."

I'm not a girly girl. I do try to look nice, but I don't want to spend a lot of time having to do so. I'm pretty low-maintenance. So, I could never date a guy who took more time on self-maintenance than I do. I'm sorry and it may sound so un-21st-century-like, but I believe in a man being a man. My husband clips his fingernails and they look fine...like a man. But flirting while getting a mani...not my style at all. :)

I entered that contest and I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for the GRAND prize. I'll be going to Amsterdam in a few weeks and I can't wait!!! I'm shaking with excitement.

It is really odd that some men have opted into hitting on women in nail salons. Crafty, but really odd. I don't know how I would have reacted to that. I don't mind metrosexuals, but that whole let's use the nail bar like an actual bar, bar...now that is sorta weird.
