A Graceful Exit
When Tara Met Blog is mentioned in the Jan. 25th issue of Exit Weekly magazine in the Geek Chic section. Reporter, Amy Kuperinsky, had asked me a few questions about music on websites. There's a quote from me saying "I detest when I go to a page and their choice in music assaults me," said Tara, the author of When Tara Met Blog (URL) "My speakers on my computer are usually set on high since I watch DVDs through my computer so when I enter a site with embedded music it's really annoying."

EXIT is a new North Jersey launch serving 21 to 34-year-olds. Copies can be picked up for free in Hoboken, Jersey City and for a list of lots more places check out their website exitweekly.com or myspace.com/exitweekly They currently have another interesting article on foot fetishes and other kinds of fetishes.

Video: Conference call with technical difficulties I'd have to quit if this happened. Thanks Rob for the link.

I've been tagged again, but I spared you all and just put my responses in my comments section here

Tara,

That's funny that they quoted you about embedded music because that was the first reaction you had when you visited my "myspace" page.

Your blog looks great all "glammed" up!

Best regards,

~Steve

Oh no you didn't Shae! Didn't you see me complaining a few posts down about these meme tags, but since it's you I'll post my responses here:

1. What were three of the stupidest things you've ever done in your life?

When I was 12 I entered a belly flop competition at sleep away camp and to this day I’m afraid to land incorrectly in the water.

That same summer I fell for the whole joke, did you know gullible is not in the dictionary?

16-years-old: Saw a banana peel in the middle of the sidewalk when walking home from the bus, looked around for the comic relief or bugs bunny, I laughed and wondered why they always show people slipping on banana peels in movies and stupidly walk right on it and quickly end up lying face up on my backpack, in time to see the druggy boy next door peer down at me as if I was the one on drugs.

2. At the current moment, who has the most influence on your life?
Still my mother, since she’s my best friend and has a lot of corporate insight.

3. If you were given a time machine that functioned, and you were allowed to only pick up five people to dine with, who would you pick?
Eleanor of Aquitaine, William Wordsworth, Katharine Hepburn, my sister and Jesus (maybe I can get some answers and enlightenment).

4. If you had three wishes that were not supernatural, what would they be?
To speak/write and understand all of the romance languages and Japanese as well as I do English.
To carry a tune.
To be a successful writer.

5. Name two things you regret your city not having, and two things people should avoid.
Come on, what doesn’t New York City not have? OK cleaner beaches and TWO central parks. Visitors should avoid the subway at late hours and stepping in dog poop.

6. Name one thing that has changed your life.
Please there are way too many, plus just missing the subway today probably changed my life, right?

I must agree with you re:embedded music on websites. Although, I myself was guilty of this faux pas when I first began my blog. UUGH.

That is until one of my close girlfriends told me how obnoxiously sophomoric it was to force people to listen to Christina Aguilera *haha*.

Congrats on the mention in Exit Weekly :)

Thanks H!

Don't worry about the Christia tunes, I made the same mistake when I started blogging by having a video play automatically and not on demand. Was I ever so young? lol ;)

Nah be happy you live in NY tho ;) and not NJ where it's published.

Sorry NJ readers, I do go party out in Hoboken and invade your taxfree malls, so I should shut up.

Oooh, Eleanor of Aquitane! Good one!

And I promise - no more tags unless they're good ones. This one was, I admit, kinda lame.

That said, if a good one comes along you're first on the list! :)

I can add a couple more "stupid things" to your list.

The time we were in Atlantic City and every where we went someone was pointing at us saying "those are the girls that got thrown off the stage" at the Village people concert.

The time you fell on the ice and someone ran over your finger and you threw up and they had to clear everyone off the rink so they can clean it up.

The time you were in college and you fainted watching a documentary on the brain during your phychology class in front of 80 students and they rushed you to the hospital.

I can go on and on...........

First of all two of those things are due to medical conditions not me being stupid!

And getting kicked out of the Village People concert was sooo your doing! lol.
